The Ulsan Philharmonic Orchestra (UPO) was established in 1990 by city of Ulsan, South Korea. Home to Korea’s industrial giants as Hyundai and Samsung, the City of Ulsan formed the Ulsan Philharmonic Orchestra as a way to integrate a cultural and fine arts community to the industrial city. Ranked among Korea’s top symphonic orchestras, the Ulsan Philharmonic Orchestra has lead the cultural revitalization and transformation of city of Ulsan, from an industrial city to that of a thriving, metropolis, enriched with cultural heritage, performing arts, and high quality of life. The Ulsan Philharmonic Orchestra performs on Korea’s most notable stages and international festivals.
The orchestra has been accompanied by distinguished pianist as Leon Fleisher, Robert Leonardy, Gun-Woo Paik, and Hae Sun Paik.
The orchestra is led by artistic director and conductor Hong-Je Kim.
